Sonett III
In the 1970s the Sonett design started to feel a bit outdated. In the USA, the motoring press railed against its appearance while extolling its handling characteristics. For their new design, to be called the Sonett III, Saab called in Sergio Coggiola. It was important that the middle section would be unaltered, but Coggiola ignored that and made a significantly wider car. The Coggiola design was altered by Gunnar A. Sjögren to fit the middle section. The hinged rear window glass itself became the hatch to the rear luggage compartment, improving the access. The engine compartment, however, was accessed via a small, matt-black panel in the top of the front section.
Sonett III (1971), Number Produced: 1952:
This was the first year Sonetts were fitted with alloy wheels. Steel wheels and hubcaps until then. The engine was changed to a 1698 HPP engine, based on the Ford Cologne 2800 V4. Note, this is not a simple bore, but an entirely different engine. Parts do not interchange between years.

Hi Pk, yes i'm sorry you are right it is the V4. i changed it in the description.
I can not show you today the pictures of the engine, we are expecting the car between now and 14 days.
Then we start to work on the Sonett, she is 100% original but did not run for mor then 3 years, so she must be prepared (mostly on the brake system).
They once repainted it, but it was a bad paintjob. So we will clean everything and refurbish the car, like she has to be.
There are no many cars left according to Saab, only approx. 300 world wide. The moment she's arriving you will certainly find more pictures :-).
"The engine was changed to a 1698 HPP engine, based on the Ford Cologne 2800 V6."
