Baujahr: 1969 PS: 90

Let me introduce "Speedy Gonzales". 1 out of only 52 Cox GTMs ever made. The Cox brand was found by three man, Howard Heerey, Jack Hosker and Bernard Cox, back in 1966/67. This is an ultra-rare Mini based historic kit/racecar. It was probably the best mini based sportscar. It has mid engine layout, has a very fine independent, fully adjustable suspension all around and is propelled by a modified late Cooper "S" 1275 engine. It was built using many original Cooper "S" parts. Whole car weights only a bit over 500kgs. For detailes please visit cr.fw.hu, or email me.

The driver wanted to stand on the right (erm... left) side, but the photographer told him to stand into the light :D.

Though You are quite all right, it is much easier to drive this car from the left :).

. . . actually it's a left hand drive car. So perhaps the driver in his pretty contemporary racing outfit should change side before racing ;-)))

Hi,

You took me wrong - but it is definiatly my fault not being able to use the language correct :(.

You are quite all right, it does heve some resemblance to the Coby - and it is not something to be embrased of :).

I know the story behind the car somehow - it was done by three gentleman in a small workshop back in 1967. The brain was Jack Hosker, and the design was his own product also. The other two was a wellknown racer (Howard Heerey) and an eccentric millionare (Bernard Cox). Nice story from the 60s.

Thanks a lot.

The creators refered it to be Dino-inspired, although You may be right, it resembles the Cob Coupe somehow. But at its base it is very british and unique.

Hi CamelotR!

It is amazing how many lovely cars were built on Mini basis. I didn't know this one! The Mini played a similar role like the Beetle in Germany: a perfect base for small manufacturers or private persons to create a new design. Great! 5 stars for your restoring efforts! Looking forward to see the final result. Greetings from Stefan

Thanks.

A real S800??? What a gem! My college competed with a N600. He has two wrecks to rebuild once. They are the smartest mini cars after the Mini.

Work in progress - very nice. I took a look at your web page with all the other interesting projects. I hope you will sell the Cox to Germany so it will come along my way some day. Hopefully when I will be driving my S800. I think they would like each other...

Hi Camelot. That´s a great little racer. Do you have any pics of a complete car?
